Caroline Melear is a fellow for R Street’s Finance, Insurance and Trade team. She researches topics in finance, insurance and trade with an emphasis on property and casualty insurance, the national flood insurance program and Florida homeowners’ insurance.
Prior to R Street, Caroline was a financial research analyst for a private family office covering public and private equities. She also previously was a contributor for the The Daily Caller and was a columnist for The Conservateur.
Caroline was president of the Student Senate at Florida State University (FSU) and a member of College Leadership Florida Class XIII. She was also a recipient of the Senate Ethics Award and Outstanding Woman Leader Award.
She received her bachelor’s degree in political science from FSU with minors in Spanish and computer science.
Caroline lives in West Palm Beach with her spouse, son and dog (Penny).
