About Caroline
Caroline Melear is a fellow on R Street’s Finance, Insurance, and Trade team. She researches topics in finance and insurance with an emphasis on federal financial regulation and legislation. Her work covers agencies including the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the Securities and Exchange Commission, as well as issues regarding home and auto insurance in Florida.
Prior to R Street, Caroline was a financial research analyst for a private family office covering public and private equities, where she passed Level I of the Chartered Financial Analyst exam on her first attempt. She was a contributor to The Daily Caller and a columnist for The Conservateur, and she received Maverick PAC’s Future40 award in 2022. She has also appeared on Fox Business, CBS Miami, and The Today Show, among others, and has published pieces in RealClearMarkets and The Washington Examiner.
Caroline was president of the student senate at Florida State University and a member of Leadership Florida Class XIII. She is also a recipient of the Senate Ethics Award and the Outstanding Woman Leader Award. She earned a bachelor’s degree in political science with minors in Spanish and computer science.
Caroline lives in West Palm Beach, Florida, with her husband, their two young children, and their dog, Penny.
