Brad Rodu, a professor of medicine at the University of Louisville and a smokeless-tobacco advocate, said the e-cig “revolution” may expand beyond the FDA’s ability to strictly restrict the products.

“It is poised to redefine tobacco use and health consequences for 45 mil lion American smokers,” Rodu said.

“The available scientific and medical evidence documents that these products are satisfying and vastly safer cigarette substi tutes. T here is no legitimate rationale for o ppressive regulation that would make them less accessible to smokers.
