Jacob Bastian is an assistant professor of economics at Rutgers University. He earned his PhD in economics at the University of Michigan. His research focuses on how public policy can reduce poverty and increase economic opportunity, while also identifying unintended consequences. Jacob’s research has been featured in outlets including The New York Times and The Economist and has been published in top economics journals including American Economic Journal: Economic PolicyJournal of Public EconomicsJournal of Labor Economics and National Tax Journal.
