Clark Packard, a former policy adviser to the President’s former ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley, slammed the administration’s disempowering of the Appellate Body as a “reckless decision” that “could mark a real turning point in US global economic leadership”.

“The dispute settlement system, the ‘crown jewel’ of the WTO, has been damaged – perhaps irrevocably so,” Packard wrote in Foreign Policy this month.
