In the hearing, Alex Pollock, senior fellow at the R Street Institute, suggested that Congress revert the Fed to its original functions and “let the market work.”
“I would take them very much back to what the founders of the Fed did in 1913,” Pollock said, “which was the overwhelming mandate to help deal with crises.”
