About Sofia

Sofia Lesmes is a former senior research associate for the Cybersecurity and Emerging Threats team. Her work focused on data security, data privacy, encryption policy and international cybersecurity norms.

Sofia is also an advisory expert on cybercrime to the Permanent Observer Mission of the Holy See to the United Nations, where she previously covered the Security Council and Peace and Security portfolio as an intern. She was also an editor for Strife at the King’s College London Department of War Studies.

Sofia graduated from King’s College London with a bachelor’s in history and international relations. She then acquired a technical accreditation in cybersecurity from Columbia University’s Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science along with the CompTIA Security+ certification.
