Overview
The Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) promised energy independence and environmental benefits for drivers who could now fill up their tanks with homegrown biofuels. But the reality has been far different: higher energy costs, polluted waterways, and little impact on greenhouse gas emissions. RFS has been a bad deal for consumers and requires significant reform or repeal. Unfortunately, Washington seems poised to expand this failed policy to other corners of the transportation world.
Join R Street Institute experts and special guests to explore how we got here, why—despite the many problems with the program—reform has been so hard, and where a biofuels mandate might strike again.
