In recent years, patent cases at the International Trade Commission (ITC) have skyrocketed. Patent assertion entities (PAEs) have weaponized the ITC to target innovators who create valuable jobs and spur economic growth across multiple sectors of the U.S. economy. Rather than taking disputes to federal courts, PAEs are finding it easier and cheaper to have the ITC ban products from the U.S. market. These tactics can impose significant harms on U.S. businesses and consumers. It is time to reform this little-known agency and protect American innovation.
