From Politico:

Allied in the effort is a collection of fiscal conservatives and GOP-leaning advocates for a less interventionist foreign policy, including the National Taxpayers Union and the R Street Institute, which published its own op-ed in POLITICO advocating for reducing military spending.

“With resources more limited than ever, areas of the budget that were off-limits for years should now be more closely scrutinized,” write Andrew Lautz, government affairs manager at the National Taxpayers Union, and Jonathan Bydlak, director of R Street’s Fiscal and Budget Policy Project. “At the top of that list should be the single largest part of the federal discretionary budget, an entire category of spending that has long been off the table: the Pentagon.”
