Free-market groups recommend changes to California self-driving vehicle rules

WASHINGTON (Oct. 14, 2016) – The R Street Institute, Competitive Enterprise Institute, TechFreedom and the International Center for Law & Economics joined today in submitting comments to the California Department of Motor Vehicles concerning proposed regulations of autonomous vehicles. The letter, addressed to DMV General Counsel Brian Soublet, outlines section-by-section recommendations for how the groups agree the regulations might be improved to better serve the people of California, both in terms of safety and, more generally, consumer welfare.
