Sasha Moss is technology policy manager with the R Street Institute, handling the intellectual property, open data and digital free-speech portfolios of R Street’s technology policy program. She also assists the outreach team in coalition building and event coordination.

Sasha joined R Street in August 2016 from the Office of U.S. Rep. Blake Farenthold, R-Texas, where she was counsel specializing in Judiciary Committee issues. She previously served as legal aid at Caterpillar Inc., assisting the company’s government affairs team’s work on the Coalition for 21st Century Patent Reform.

Earlier in her career, Sasha was a research assistant to professor Robert Brauneis of George Washington University Law School. In that role, she assisted with development and construction of the online version of the casebook “Copyright,” co-authored by Brauneis and Roger E. Schechter. She also served as a legal copywriter and content marketer at Curated Media.

Sasha earned her bachelor’s in English literature from George Washington University in 2010, a master’s in Victorian literature from the University of Glasgow in 2012, a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Glasgow in 2014 and a Master of Laws degree in intellectual property from George Washington University in 2015. She was awarded the Luther Rice Undergraduate Research Fellowship in 2008, the Kilgore College Presidential Scholarship in 2009 and was a Google Policy Fellow in 2015. She is a member of the Federalist Society, The Copyright Society of the USA, and Internet Law and Policy Foundry. She is a founding member of the Congressional Tech Staff Association.

She lives in Washington with a sassy shelter cat named Lola and collects vinyl records.
