About Ryan
Ryan Williamson is a governance fellow at R Street. He researches and writes on issues related to election reform and administration as well as governance, such as legislative procedure and capacity.
Before joining R Street, Ryan was an assistant professor of political science at Auburn University. He was also a congressional fellow in the U.S. Senate Committee on Rules and Administration. In both positions, he focused on reforms to electoral and legislative institutions.
Ryan has an advanced contract with Oxford University Press for a book due in October 2022 that analyzes the nationalization of politics from 1840 to 2020.
Ryan received his undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and his doctorate from the University of Georgia.
