John Grover focuses on building media relationships, pitching R Street scholars’ work, and providing strategic editing support across the organization’s policy areas.

He previously served as interim executive director at The Civic, a San Antonio-based pro-growth newsletter, where he conducted city-level policy research and wrote op-eds. Prior to that, he was a 2021 Presidential Management Fellow with the U.S. Department of the Treasury, where his work ranged from C-suite strategy execution support to legislative and public affairs, including a detail with the U.S. Department of State.

Earlier in his career, John served as assistant managing editor and Korean studies fellow at The National Interest. He is also an alumnus of Young Voices and the Stand Together Media and Journalism Fellowship.

John holds a bachelor’s degree in political science with a focus on international relations and comparative government from Bowdoin College and a master’s degree in conflict analysis and resolution from George Mason University. He lives in his hometown of San Antonio, Texas, with his wife and son.
