Progressive Policy Institute: Women’s History Month Forum

In celebration of Women’s History Month, the Progressive Policy Institute (PPI) is hosting a series of panels to discuss policy issues affecting American women and families. The forum seeks to elevate women’s voices in policy, and will feature PPI’s policy staff as well as esteemed guests from an array of policy fields.

10:15 AM – 11:00 AM: Content Moderation and Online Women’s Movements

Panelists of this panel include Suzanne Kianpour (Creator and Host of BBC’s “Women Building Peace” series); Shoshanna Weissman (Digital Director and Fellow, R Street Institute); and Liz Woolery (Digital Policy Lead, PEN America). PPI’s Malena Dailey will discuss how online platforms have helped women’s movements online and allowed for the sharing of stories and resources, including the ongoing protest movement led by Persian women against Iran’s oppressive regime. The panel will highlight how the current regulatory framework around content moderation supports these efforts, as well as improvements that can be made.
