No Longer Forgotten: The Triumphs and Struggles of Rural Education in America

Rural school districts make up more than half of operating school districts in the United States, yet are often left out of larger conversations on education. They face a host of challenges: some of the highest principal turnover rates in the nation and schools that often struggle with persistent poverty, low college-going rates and extreme racial disparities in student outcomes.

Join us as we discuss a new book, No Longer Forgotten: The Triumphs and Struggles of Rural Education in America, co-edited by Andy Smarick and Michael McShane, and hear from people working on the frontlines of rural education about what the present and future holds for these schools.

Lunch will be available at 11:30 and the event will commence at noon with the public panel. S
