Overview

From sea to shining sea, nothing defines the American experience quite like the diverse and expansive array of nature. In the spirit of exploration, we invite you to join the R Street Institute for a virtual conversation examining how Americans have understood and engaged with the natural world—not only as a source of beauty and inspiration, but as a foundation for westward expansion and energy development.

From early naturalists and artists to the rise of conservation movements and today’s energy infrastructure, ideas about land and nature have continuously shaped American values and debates about responsibility and abundance. This webinar will explore where and how America’s stunning landscapes and natural resources fit into the conservation conversation as the republic approaches its semiquincentennial celebration and reflects on its past and future.
