Grid Transformation: Perspectives from Electricity Consumers in the Mid-Atlantic

The electric grid is undergoing a historic transformation, as new resources come online to replace older assets. This is particularly evident in the electricity market spanning the Mid-Atlantic to Chicago, known as the PJM Interconnection. Some have suggested this transformation should be mitigated – such as actions the Energy Department is currently considering to intervene in PJM’s market to avoid the loss of coal and nuclear plants. The essential, but often overlooked, perspective on the PJM market and electricity policy comes from consumers.

Come join the R Street Institute for a conversation with PJM consumer groups on electricity markets and policy, including consumers’ perspectives on grid resilience.

Panelists include:
  • John Hughes, President and CEO, Electricity Consumers Resource Council
  • Dylan Reed, Head of Congressional Affairs, Advanced Energy Economy
  • Devin Hartman, Electricity Policy Manager, R Street Institute (moderator)
