Criminal Justice Keynote Speaker
The Sterling College Criminal Justice program will host Caleb Watney, technology policy associate at the R Street Institute, for its keynote lecture on Friday, April 27, 2018. The College will host Watney at 7 p.m. in Heritage Hall in Cooper Hall with a public question-and-answer forum immediately afterward. The public is invited to attend this free event.
“We are excited to welcome Caleb back to Sterling for this keynote lecture. He is doing impressive work, and I am thankful to him for making time to come back to Sterling to invest time into our current students,” said Dr. Mark Tremaine, assistant professor of criminal justice.
At R Street Institute, Watney leads work on emerging technologies, including autonomous vehicles, artificial intelligence, drones, robotics and medical tech. In this role, he regularly meets with policymakers, files regulatory comments, writes op-eds and manages the Technology Policy Working Group.
Before joining R Street full-time in 2017, he was a graduate research fellow at the Mercatus Center, working with the Technology Policy Program. He also previously worked as a policy research consultant for Uber.
Watney received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Sterling College and his master’s in economics from George Mason University.
