The Past, Present, and Future of Postal Pensions

This summer, the Postal Service reported a $2.2 billion loss in the third quarter of its 2019 fiscal year, bringing the total losses in fiscal 2019 to nearly $6 billion. With finances growing increasingly dire, Congress has begun looking for answers. One issue that has been raised repeatedly in postal reform discussions in Congress has been changes to postal retirement savings. As it stands, there are two bills being considered that could alter the long-term financial trajectory of USPS.

Hill staff who attend can expect to walk away with a better understanding of options for how to update USPS pension investment regulations.
