U.S. lawmakers warn Boris Johnson over Huawei move
WAR POWERS: A letter signed by 46 organizations from left- and right-leaning groups urges lawmakers to repeal the Iraq war authorization.
“We have seen the Iraq war authorization continue to be repurposed by successive presidents for unrelated military activities,” the letter says. “Leaving it in place would ensure that it remains susceptible to misuse by this or a future president, paving the way for the Executive Branch to draw the United States into further wars that were not even contemplated, let alone authorized by Congress 18 years ago. This authorization must be repealed, and not replaced.”
