WASHINGTON (Oct. 17, 2022) ––The R Street Institute is proud to announce that Jumoke Dada, project manager for R Street’s Making Space Initiative, has been named one of CyberScoop’s 50 award winners in the “Most Inspiring Up & Comer” category.

The CyberScoop 50 Awards celebrate and honor the accomplishments of cybersecurity leaders in both the public and private sectors. These people are responsible for protecting vital networks, information and critical infrastructure. Through their hard work, ingenuity and creativity, they aim to fend off hackers, stay ahead of adversaries and protect American networks.

Dada has worked tirelessly to build and lead the Making Space Initiative at the R Street Institute. The Initiative includes partnership with more than 100 think tanks, universities, foundations, corporate partners and individuals in an effort to increase the diversity of speakers and experts in the cybersecurity space at events that are hosted or funded by these organizations. She’s hosted and attended events around the country to elevate the need for more diverse experts in the cybersecurity field.

Making Space’s CyberBase is a curated talent list of Black experts that is open to recruiters, policymakers, media, influencers and key decision-makers. The goal is to spotlight and empower underrepresented cybersecurity professionals. This collective network of cybersecurity professionals covers the public, private and nonprofit sectors and grants nominees insider access to national policy discussions, conferences and other public-facing engagements. This project is a partnership between the R Street Institute and #SharetheMicinCyber.

Dada added, “As someone who pivoted from tech into the field of cybersecurity last year, I’m honored and humbled to be included in Cyberscoop’s 50 Awards. I hope that this recognition can inspire more women, people of color and other thought leaders from underrepresented communities to join the ranks of cybersecurity professionals. The work that my fellow award winners and many others in the cybersecurity world have undertaken is critical in today’s ultra-connected world. No matter the background, we need the best of the best working to protect America’s critical cyber networks and interests.”

The R Street Institute is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, public policy research organization. Our mission is to engage in policy research and outreach to promote free markets and limited, effective government.
