WASHINGTON (March 11, 2020) – Today, the R Street Institute welcomed William Gray as director of communications.

In this role, Bill will oversee the strategic communications efforts of the organization and each policy department. He will also act as a public relations coach and mentor for staff at the pragmatic, right-of-center think tank.

“We are thrilled that Bill is joining the R Street Institute,” said R Street President Eli Lehrer. “He brings with him a wealth of media and public relations experience that will be invaluable to our organization.”

Previously, Bill was the communications director for Issue One, a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that seeks to reduce the role of money in politics. He also worked for the Center for Public Integrity and C-SPAN. He is the author of the book The Must-Have Guide to Charts, Props, and Posters in Congress and the mastermind behind the Twitter account @FloorCharts.

Bill received a master of liberal arts degree in journalism from the Harvard University Extension School in Cambridge, Massachusetts and his bachelor of arts in English from Centre College in Danville, Kentucky.

R Street was founded in 2012 as a nonprofit, nonpartisan public policy research organization with the mission to engage in research and outreach to promote free markets and limited, effective government. In addition to its D.C. headquarters, it has offices in Georgia, Texas, Ohio and California.
