R Street Commends McConnell for Election-Security Funding Proposal, Recommends Further Action
WASHINGTON (Sept. 24) – Last week, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) made a welcome decision to support federal funding for election security. As a center-right organization, the R Street Institute supports limited, effective government and a strong national defense. We hope the Senate will consider packaging the aforementioned funds as federal grants to help states improve their election infrastructure. Election system vulnerabilities have grave implications for national security. And while this funding is necessary, we would also encourage a series of reforms intended to develop a more secure election system in the United States.
