Capitol Hill Veteran Dean Peterson Joins R Street Institute

Peterson was most recently chief of staff for former U.S. Rep. Randy Hultgren (R-Ill.). Prior to that, he spent eight years as head of the communications and advocacy efforts of the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation, the leading nonprofit addiction treatment provider. He spent nearly 17 years as chief aide to retired Congressman Jim Ramstad (R-Minn.), and served in a variety of other policy and political posts, including with the U.S. Small Business Administration, two other members of Congress and the National Republican Senate Committee.

R Street was founded in 2012 and is a nonprofit, nonpartisan public policy research organization with the mission to engage in policy research and outreach to promote free markets and limited, effective government.
