Overview
The rapid growth in U.S. energy demand requires a major buildout of power infrastructure, yet outdated and lengthy permitting processes remain one of the greatest barriers to meeting this need. Recent court cases, executive orders, and proposed legislation have brought permitting policy back into the spotlight, raising new questions about the future of infrastructure development.
This second session in the Preparing for Energy Load Growth series will examine how Congress can modernize permitting to accelerate energy projects while maintaining environmental protections. Experts will discuss the potential impacts and political durability of pending proposals as well as what reforms might mean for the economy, consumers, and industry.
Join the R Street Institute for a fireside chat exploring these issues and considering bipartisan opportunities to address one of the most critical challenges facing America’s energy system.
