PANELISTS

Kathryn Ciano Mauler is a regulatory lawyer working with data and technology, most recently as a Senior Counsel at Uber Technologies, where she has served as Uber’s Regulatory lead in various U.S. regions. Prior to Uber, she spent two election cycles working with political data at i360, LLC, as General Counsel. Before this, Kat worked in weapons law, at a boutique firm in DC. She has also spent time at the Institute for Justice and at Fox Business News.

Kat attended undergrad and business school at the University of Florida. She stayed at the University of Florida for business school before earning her J.D. from the George Mason University School of Law, now Antonin Scalia Law School.

Caleb Watney leads the R Street Institute’s work on emerging technologies, including autonomous vehicles, artificial intelligence, drones and robotics. In this role, he regularly meets with policymakers, files regulatory comments, writes op-eds and manages a monthly technology policy working group.

Caleb was previously a graduate research fellow at the Mercatus Center, working with the Technology Policy Program. He has also worked as a policy research consultant for Uber.

Caleb received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Sterling College and his master’s in economics from George Mason University.

Joseph Rohe of Fox Rothschild LLP is a logistics and international trade attorney and licensed U.S. Customs broker and Certified Customs Specialist who advises clients on various matters pertaining to Customs and trade, representing both domestic and foreign importers and exporters in multiple aspects of international trade transactions. Joseph also works alongside clients to assist them through regulatory and C-TPAT program audits; fines, penalties and forfeiture actions; and the filing and perfection of prior disclosures.

Joseph holds degrees from the University of Durham School of Law, College of St. Chad, Durham, England (LL.B., with honors, 2007), and The Citadel – The Military College of South Carolina (B.S., 2003).
