Curtailing absentee voting could crush GOP in future elections
A number of conservatives also support absentee voting. Data from the conservative R-Street Institute shows absentee voting has been on the rise since 2008. The highest year for absentee voting before 2020 was 2014, the year the GOP retook the U.S. Senate, kept the House of Representatives, and won many governor’s races.
R-Street conservatives also show evidence that absentee voting fits with conservative values, as the practice is more secure and more cost-effective, as well as supported overwhelmingly by voters.
