Overview

Energy demand is booming thanks to artificial intelligence, reindustrialization, electrification, and more. Yet outdated permitting processes and regulatory structures are slowing the ability of markets to keep pace. The combination puts strain on energy affordability and reliability, and the necessary reforms are complex.

The R Street Institute invites you to the first part of a three-part series for congressional staff on how Congress can prepare the country for this new era of energy demand. This opening session will give an overview of the issues and policy priorities, with the second and third sessions providing deep dives into transmission and permitting policy.
