Featuring

[Moderator] Elizabeth Nolan Brown, Senior Editor, Reason and Co-Founder, Feminists for Liberty

Renée DiResta, Associate Research Professor, McCourt School of Public Policy, Georgetown University; Author and Entrepreneur

Spence Purnell, Resident Senior Fellow, Technology and Innovation, R Street Institute

Overview

Join the R Street Institute for a friendly debate about the utility of Community Notes in addressing misinformation. As platform censorship policies became highly criticized by the public and the government after the COVID-19 pandemic, social media platforms including X and Meta are embracing a more hands-off approach where, instead of removing content, users add relevant context to it. Panelists will discuss and debate current research around Community Notes and its effectiveness against misinformation going forward.
