R Street Institute Criminal Justice Director Jillian Snider discusses the evidence at the shooting of Unitedhealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. She explains latent fingerprints and how the NYPD approaches this investigation. Watch the segment below or here.

From the segment:

Snider: Latent fingerprints are prints that are left by boils on the skin. If you touch a bottle, or a wrapper, and you are not wearing gloves (as we know the suspect was not), his oils from his natural body will leave an invisible fingerprint.

Snider: They’re not only going to look at what he was doing for the 10 days he was in the city, they’re going to look at the last two or three years of this person’s life. They’re going to know everyone he was friends with, everyone he spoke to, what was the rift between him and his family, what drove him to do the things that he did.
