Podcast: Principles First Summit Recap
Last week, I sat down with Matt Germer, director of the Governance Program at the R Street Institute, a center-right think tank, and Scott Warren, a fellow at the SNF Agora Institute at Johns Hopkins University.
Matt and Scott are collaborating to build a “grasstops” network of pro-democracy conservatives. (More about their effort here.) They also shared a stage at the Principles First Summit with Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger and Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer.
We recapped the Principles First Summit (a center-right alternative to CPAC), talked about their collaboration, and more, including:
- The mood at the conference (energetic!)
- Pro-democracy conservatives’ goals
- In short, get back to arguing about policy! (Rather than worrying about folks who are trying to change the rules of the game to stay in power.)
- The conservative principles for building trust in elections released last year
