Oregon lawmakers consider statewide ban on flavored nicotine products
Opponents of the bill argue that banning flavored nicotine products could negatively impact adults seeking alternatives to traditional smoking. Jeffery Smith, a former professor at the University of Portland, said a lot of adults use these fruity flavors to curb their addiction to cigarettes. He added that it’s important to make any treatment for addiction available.
“It’s very hard for people to change behaviors, and any tools that are effective at helping people change behaviors are important to be made available,” said Smith.
