FBI works with local departments on ‘Operation Summer Heat’ to crack down on crime

“When you are trying to do large-scale operations, whether it be infiltrating a trafficking ring or infiltrating a drug distribution ring, or apprehending like high-level Most Wanted offenders, those are things that we commonly very willing to partner with our federal friends because they do have what we don’t have,” said Jillian Snider, a resident senior fellow at the R Street Institute and a former New York Police Department officer…

While most of the deployments have been focused on cities with elevated rates of crime, they have also been centered on places struggling to recruit and retain officers and are operating under capacity.

“What we need to do more of is invest in how our country overall is working on solving this police workforce crisis that we have,” Snider said.
