Amazon controversy makes the case for a private-sector U.S. Postal Service

This presented a rare growth opportunity for the Postal Service. In 2008, packages barely registered on the postal scorecard, delivering 900 million packages and bringing in $1.8 billion in revenue out of $75 billion overall for the Postal Service. By 2017, close to 6 billion parcels were delivered, representing 28 percent of postal revenue.
