Press conference to stop the ‘secret’ Farm Bill
Washington (Dec. 6, 2012) –- R Street Senior Fellow Andrew Moylan will join representatives from a politically diverse group of organizations in a Dec. 10 press conference to call on Congress not to smuggle a “secret” Farm Bill into the ongoing fiscal negotiations.
Open to accredited journalists, the press conference will highlight concerns from those on both the left and the right that lawmakers could attach the deeply flawed, $1 trillion Department of Agriculture authorization to legislation intended to avert the so-called “fiscal cliff.” The assembled groups all believe the Farm Bill should be subject to a full and open debate in the 113th Congress, rather than tacked on to a hastily negotiated piece of budget legislation.
