About Clare

Clare Basil supported the R Street Institute’s Civil Society, Education and Work program with a variety of initiatives, including op-ed writing, podcast production and policy research. She also helped to oversee the newly launched Foundations of Conservative Policymaking Fellowship.

Clare taught English in Italy with Associazione Insieme. Prior to this, she served as an aide to her representative in the Maryland House of Delegates, Herb McMillan.

Clare is a graduate of the Hudson Political Studies Program and a recipient of the Willmoore Kendall Award in Political Philosophy. She earned her bachelor’s degree in political philosophy from the University of Dallas, where she graduated magna cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa.

She resides in Washington, D.C.
