WASHINGTON (May 1, 2013) – The R Street Institute today announced the hiring of Zach Graves to the new position of director of digital marketing.

Based in R Street’s Washington headquarters, Graves will be responsible for R Street’s online marketing, social media, blogger outreach and various other projects to elevate R Street’s brand in the digital space. He will report to R Street Public Affairs Director R.J. Lehmann.

Prior to joining R Street, Zach was manager of new media at the Cato Institute. There he was responsible for overseeing Cato’s social media following across dozens of project feeds; outreach to bloggers and other think tanks for Cato’s policy research; online advertising on Facebook, Twitter, Google and YouTube.

“Zach is a proven communicator who already has shown his ability to build a large and persuasive digital footprint for one of Washington’s most respected think tanks,” R Street President Eli Lehrer said. “As R Street continues to build its team and explore new research areas, we think he is the ideal hire to bring us to the next level of branding and name recognition.”

With while he was with Cato, Graves also served as an editor of the Cato@Liberty blog, and organizer of the #NewMediaLunch that has featured speakers from Buzzfeed, SXSW, Google, Facebook, the American Civil Liberties Union, the Heritage Foundation, Reason magazine, Twitter, Quora and more.

Graves earlier held positions with America’s Future Foundation and the Competitive Enterprise Institute. He holds a master’s from the California Institute of the Arts and a bachelor’s from the University of California at Davis.
