The R Street Institute announced today it has enhanced its communications team with the addition of Rebecca Coffman to serve in the newly created role of media director.

Rebecca joins R Street from Freedom Partners Chamber of Commerce, where she served as communications manager and focused her efforts on eliminating corporate welfare in government.

“We were very pleased to be able to add such a capable, talented and energetic performer to our communications team and continue the work of bringing R Street’s research and message to new audiences,” R Street President Eli Lehrer said. “R Street continues to grow, expanding both into new issue areas and new areas of geographic focus. Rebecca will play a key role in ensuring our commitment to free markets and real solutions gets noticed.”

In her new role, she will work closely with Communications Director Ben Carnes and Editor-In-Chief R.J. Lehmann, with a particular focus on cultivating relationships with the press and enhancing the organization’s digital efforts.

“Few groups in DC are truly willing to reach across the aisle to achieve common-sense policy solutions,” said Coffman. “R Street embodies pragmatic libertarianism by building broad coalitions on unity issues, but taking principled stands against big government when necessary. I look forward to finding innovative ways to bring our message to new audiences.”

Before Freedom Partners, Rebecca served as national press secretary for Generation Opportunity, a liberty-minded youth organization focused on expanding opportunity for the millennial generation. She has also worked at Harbinger Outreach, an events and advertising startup located in Washington, as well as the Republican National Committee.

Rebecca is a graduate of Ithaca College, where she studied multimedia journalism and political science.
