No Longer Forgotten: The Triumphs and Struggles of Rural Education in America

Please join the R Street Institute on Thursday, Dec. 6 from 5:30 -7:30 for a small book-release reception for Andy Smarick and Mike McShane’s new volume No Longer Forgotten: The Triumphs and Struggles of Rural Education in America. For too long, education-reform discussions have paid too little attention to the needs of rural students and communities. But the results of the 2016 and 2018 elections show the widening divide between rural Americans and their fellow citizens in urban and suburban areas. If we’re to develop school policies that help all students, our conversations must be informed by the views and experiences of rural America. Executive Director of the Education Writers Association, Caroline Hendrie, will lead a discussion with Smarick and McShane about the implications of their new book.
