Public policy at the federal and state levels affects P&C insurance in many ways, both positively and negatively. Jerry Theodorou, P&C insurance specialist at the Washington, D.C.-based think tank R Street Institute, will take us through an interactive session on top insurance issues impacting CPCU members and their employers. These include:

– insurers prohibited from using credit-based information in risk-based pricing

– changes to U.S. and global tax rates

– flood insurance

– the role of the Federal Insurance Office

– social inflation, claims inflation and tort reform

– right to repair

Jerry Theodorou is the director of the R Street Institute’s Finance, Insurance and Trade Policy Program. He develops and advances effective free market public policy solutions to complex issues where federal and state governments have intervened. Prior to R Street, Jerry was a Director of insurance research at Conning in Hartford, Conn. In his 12 years at Conning, a leading insurance asset management and research firm, he was highly sought after for his insights and publications on a broad range of matters impacting property and casualty insurers, and was in strong demand as keynote speaker at conferences
