Cyber 101 Series – Better Watch Your Back: The Defensive Side of Cyber

When: May 11, 2:30pm ET
Where: Virtual
Who:

Cybersecurity: as in war or football, there are two parts—offense and defense. What is cyber-defense? Are we blocking and tackling? What does it mean to protect the United States through defensive cybersecurity? Who’s in charge of cyber defense? Join us for our second Cyber 101 event, where Tatyana Bolton, R Street’s Cybersecurity and Emerging Threats Policy Director, will discuss these questions and more.

Our second event will discuss the nuances of defensive cybersecurity. In the wake of scenarios such as SolarWinds and the Microsoft Exchange compromise, defensive cybersecurity is getting more attention. But successful defense requires cooperation from federal actors, private sector partners and the international community, all of whom must constantly detect and counter threats that hit our networks. The presentation will be followed by a fireside chat discussion to learn more about U.S. defensive cybersecurity.

Moderator: Kathryn Waldron, Resident Fellow, Cybersecurity and Emerging Threats, R Street Institute

Panelist: Tatyana Bolton, Director, Cybersecurity and Emerging Threats, R Street Institute
