2020 Presidential Summit & Symposium on Sentencing

SUMMARY:

The landscape of sentencing policy has shifted in recent years, with federal and state lawmakers advocating fewer draconian penalties and beginning to scale back certain sentences. Whether these small tremors will ultimately lead to a seismic shift remains an open question, but it is clear that the United States stands at a critical juncture for sentencing reform. The symposium is designed to equip practitioners and policy advocates with the latest strategies and research to seize the moment and foster more rationale and humane policies. This multi-day virtual event will feature an array of prominent national and international experts from the academy, frontlines, and policy arena, covering the full range of sentencing topics and policy considerations.

CLE offered for select panels. See agenda for details.
