After last week’s international climate negotiations and a flurry of congressional energy activity nears finality, many questions about the next era of climate and energy policy have emerged. Despite international and federal actions falling short of many reformists’ ambitions, the evidence shows extensive emissions progress stemming from decentralized leadership. In fact, the foremost policy opportunities for climate progress may come from state and federal reforms that unleash the private sector and civil society’s appetite for decarbonization, while a refreshed bipartisan view of national and international climate policy is warranted.
Please join the R Street Energy and Environment team for a debrief on recent developments and to discuss the burgeoning outlook for pro-market climate policy.
