Panel Discussion:

Comprehensive data security and privacy legislation has eluded the United States partly due to debate around several roadblocks like preemption and enforcement. While reaching consensus on these areas is critical to move forward, they are far from the whole privacy picture. This event will explore the less commonly discussed—yet critical—aspects of privacy legislation, along with highlighting more nuanced approaches to the traditional roadblocks, moving beyond an all-or-nothing view.

Join the R Street Institute for lunch to delve into what a well-rounded privacy bill looks like. The event will cover topics such as duty of loyalty, frameworks beyond notice and consent, responsible data processing, civil rights and innovative ways to reach consensus on enforcement. Through a fireside chat and panel, participants will discuss how to shape an effective and durable national privacy and security law from their diverse perspectives.

Please note: Attendees must show proof of COVID-19 vaccination to attend. This requirement will be updated according to the National Press Club. Lunch will be served at this event.
