R Street welcomes Nick Zaiac as Commercial Freedom Fellow
Zaiac has a robust economics background, previously having worked in multiple DC-area think tanks. He frequently testifies in front of state legislatures and regulatory bodies on myriad policy issues, and his research has been widely published in outlets from the Washington Post to the Baltimore Sun. Zaiac currently serves as a columnist for the American Institute for Economic Research.
“Nick is a great addition to R Street’s commercial freedom team,” said R Street’s Vice President of Policy, Kevin Kosar. “Nick will be spearheading our work on shipping and postal policy issues, which have become rapidly growing areas of policy concern in the age of e-commerce and ever-changing technological advancements.”
The R Street Institute is expanding its work in the shipping and postal policy realm in an effort to provide thought leadership that prompts legislators and shipping stakeholders to think and talk more about the postal and delivery services Americans want and need in the 21st century.
“I am excited to be joining R Street’s team,” said Zaiac. “Shipping and postal policy touch every American in some way. I’m overjoyed to be part of an organization working to make these ubiquitous services better for consumers, taxpayers and the public at large.”
In addition to his work on shipping and postal issues, Zaiac will also be researching and writing on occupational licensing, infrastructure, urbanism and other regulatory issues.
Zaiac earned a BA in Economics and International Relations from American University, and is presently pursuing an MA in Economics from George Mason University. He currently lives in Washington.
