WASHINGTON (Jan. 11, 2021)—The R Street Institute is excited to announce the hiring of Nan Swift as its Governance fellow. Swift brings a wealth of experience to R Street, both as a widely respected coalition organizer and policy analyst with over a decade of experience.

In her new role, Swift will research and write on congressional reform and federal budgetary issues, along with building relationships across party lines to promote R Street’s Governance program more broadly among Congressional Members and staff.

Most recently, she served as professional staff for Sen. Mike Enzi (R-Wyo.) on the U.S. Senate Budget Committee, where she oversaw outreach to outside organizations for the Committee’s efforts to reform oversight and the budget process. Prior to her Capitol Hill work, Swift was federal affairs manager for the National Taxpayers Union.

“We’re thrilled to have Nan join the Governance team at R Street. Nan has been a tireless advocate for government reform throughout her impressive career and is a respected policy thinker. She will be an indispensable part of our efforts to improve governance in Washington,” said Jonathan Bydlak, who heads R Street’s Governance program.

Swift added, “I’ve worked closely with R Street in various capacities since its inception eight years ago, and I’m excited to become a full-fledged member of the team. R Street deserves its reputation as a principled actor, a reliable ally for anyone dedicated to our common goals of better government and more opportunity, and a credible source for pragmatic policy solutions. There is nothing more important right now.”
