Peterson: Partisanship may protect farm programs
Caroline Kitchens, federal affairs manager for the GOP-leaning R Street Institute, thinks the economic argument could sway lawmakers against farm program reforms given the uncertainty in agriculture over President Trump’s trade policy.
“We are a little concerned that the issues going on with trade right now will make it more likely for people to support subsidies,” she said.
