Legislation to #LiftTheBan passes House with bipartisan support
WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) released the following statement applauding House passage of H.R. 702, legislation to lift the 1975 ban on crude oil exports:
“It’s time to lift the outdated ban on selling America-made oil oversees. Today’s vote shows there is bipartisan agreement that modernizing our energy policy in this way will increase workers’ incomes and benefit their families, create jobs, lower gas prices, and strengthen our economy. It would also boost America’s influence around the world and help our friends and allies. I hope President Obama and Senate Democrats will work with us and do the right thing for our country.”
NOTE: The Energy Equipment and Infrastructure Alliance has completed a district-by-district analysis of jobs that would be created by lifting the ban. On Monday, 135 senior legislative leaders from 40 states and Puerto Rico sent a letter to Speaker Boehner and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell in support of their efforts to end the federal ban on crude oil exports.
