To some executives, the capital markets provide possible solutions that should be explored by the insurance industry.
Jerry Theodorou, director of finance, insurance & trade programs at the R Street Institute said: “You’ve got trillions of dollars [in the capital markets], you’ve got institutional investors, sovereign wealth funds, pension funds, endowments, that are looking for diversifying asset classes, and this could deliver a good coupon for investors willing to take this risk which is uncorrelated with debt and equity market volatility.”
