The synthetic opioid Fentanyl is cheap, easy to get, and is deadly. Normally used as a painkiller for serious illnesses, it is now becoming one of the most widely used recreational drugs, killing over 93,000 people in 2020 alone. R Street Criminal Justice and Civil Liberties Director Jill Snider, who served with the New York Police Department, joined the program to discuss the impact of the opioid epidemic on the criminal justice system, overcriminalization and holding drug traffickers accountable.
